Web 2.0 and Security

By now, you may have noticed that we have already posted a great deal of information to the web. Have you ever wondered what happens to all of that information?

An important item to think about when using Web 2.0 tools is the security of information.

Remember not to post anything that you don't want people to know about...

Information can be hacked! Check out the articles from the Black Hat conventions.

Black Hat is an organization made up of security professionals and other interested parties that investigate security issues. They take their name from the term for a person who intentionally breaches security measures.

Beyond taking measures not to post personal and private infomation, after reading the XSSpliotation article, and others, you may just choose to empty your cache, delete your cookies and turn off your auto-complete feature in your browser!

In the light of these issues, it is important to take into account privacy and security issues if you require students to post items to the web. This is particularly important if the assignment involves commenting on controversial or political topics.

Read at least two articles from the Black Hat convetions, then post your comments regarding security issues.
